NCBA to Hold Live Satellite Town Hall Meeting
NCBA Policy, BSE, Market Situation to be Addressed

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) will host a Satellite Town Hall Meeting originating from Capitol Hill on April 1 in conjunction with its spring policy conference.  The 90-minute live broadcast will include updates on NCBA’s legislative and regulatory efforts, particularly actions to reopen export markets for U.S. beef and minimize the impact of new BSE regulations on cattlemen.  NCBA’s Spring Conference runs March 31–April 3 in Washington, D.C.

NCBA President Jan Lyons, a producer from Manhattan, Kan., and Chief Executive Officer Terry Stokes, will discuss NCBA’s role in protecting the livelihoods of American cattlemen and ensuring their opportunities to be profitable in their businesses.  Jeff Nalley, 2004 National Association of Farm Broadcasters president, will moderate the live session that will also include an economic, trade and policy update from NCBA Vice President of Government Affairs Chandler Keys and Chief Economist Gregg Doud.

“The NCBA Spring Conference is one of the meetings I most look forward to as a producer,” said Lyons.  “When Capitol Hill is inundated with cattlemen, I know we are having a positive impact on our legislators and they are hearing our concerns.”

The Satellite Town Hall will provide cattlemen from around the nation the opportunity to call in to a telephone number provided on screen with their own questions or comments.

Lyons said, “I am eager to share the excitement of our policy conference with cattlemen back home through our Satellite Town Hall.  Cattlemen can tune in to watch the updates on our efforts to reopen borders and address the market situation or they can call in with a question or their input.”

The Satellite Town Hall Meeting will broadcast live on RFD-TV from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Eastern Time April 1.  A tape of the show will be rebroadcast three times on the RFD-TV channel at six hour intervals, following the start of the initial broadcast.  The program will also be broadcast on Saturday, April 3 at 4 p.m., Eastern Time.
